Mumbai: Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) has appointed Aasif Malbari as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
Aasif Malbari, who was serving as Global Chief Financial Officer and President of Godrej Africa, will succeed Sudhir Sitapati, who is stepping down as MD and CEO.
Aasif Malbari brings three decades of experience across the FMCG and automotive industries, having worked with GCPL, Tata Motors and Hindustan Unilever.
In his role as Global CFO at GCPL, he has directly overseen business strategy and partnered with leadership teams across geographies to drive growth and strengthen performance.
The appointment of Aasif Malbari comes after his significant contribution to the transformation of GCPL’s Africa business.
Under his leadership, the business rapidly expanded its margin-accretive FMCG portfolio, including the successful launch of its air care category, while also strengthening its legacy Hair Fashion business.
GCPL said the transformation of its Africa business helped EBITDA margins increase significantly, from approximately 9% in FY24 to around 15% in FY26.
Aasif Malbari’s Experience Across FMCG and Auto Sectors
Before taking up the top leadership role at GCPL, Aasif Malbari served as Chief Financial Officer at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility and Director at Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles.
At Tata Motors, Aasif Malbari played a key role in scaling the business, including its reorganization and a USD 1 billion fundraise for the electric vehicle business.
Earlier in his career, Aasif Malbari worked at Hindustan Unilever, where he held a range of finance and business roles.
Aasif Malbari is a Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary. He secured the All India First Rank in both the CA Intermediate and Final examinations.

“I want to thank Sudhir for the bold thinking he has brought to GCPL over the last five years, and we wish him success in what comes next.”
